What Is the AT200?
NomadShade had a deceptively simple idea: what if you could turn any vehicle into a basecamp in minutes, without a roof rack, without drilling holes and without a $3,000 rooftop tent? The AT200 is a 2x2.5m portable awning tent that mounts to any car, van, SUV or truck using heavy-duty suction cups — no permanent modifications required.
Set up takes minutes. The aluminium frame deploys quickly, the insect-proof mesh keeps bugs out and the modular side panels let you configure the shelter to suit your environment. Two doors give you flexible access from either side. When you're done, it packs down compact enough to store in your boot or on a rear rack.
The Campaign Numbers
The campaign ran from December 9, 2025 to January 13, 2026 — 35 days. NomadShade set a $10,000 goal. By the time it closed, 610 backers had pledged $130,666 — more than 13 times the original goal. With 347 comments and 10 updates, the AT200 community was one of the most active of any campaign in its category.
The product has since moved to retail at camperig.com, where backers can still order. The campaign validated strong demand for vehicle-mounted shelters that don't require permanent installation.
